The Path
I started to take a trip today
To swim in the river and find my way
But on my path, through the trees
curiosity was stirred by the smell of a breeze
Just then I decided, a reckless whim
that indeed I would follow the intriguing wind
I strayed from my route, and soon I found
A man in the forest, with an apple so round
"This is the sweetest fruit of the land,"
He offered it to me with an outstretched hand.
I started to reach, I started to take
But suddenly realized he was the Snake.
I turned from him, and started to run
I arrived at the river, facing the sun
Squinting, I dove in to the water,
Returning at last to my Eternal Father.
