You must have strength and ability.
Ability to do many things
Running slow but stopping hard,
Barely beating out the throw,
Throwing hard to get someone out.

You must multitask,
Listen, ignore, and play.
You must have patience,
You must have good hand eye coordination.

To play this game you have to want to,
Want to strengthen, destroy, and help your body,
Want to feel soft pain when hitting,
Want to once again beat the other team.

The dirt might hurt while gracefully sliding
Your bones might hurt, pop and ach
You might feel terrible, happy, and exhausted,
But eventually you will know,
Softball is joyful pain.

Joyful pain that could make them agitated,
But could also make them happier than ever before,
They will never know unless they try,
And make an effort in the game.
