The Seagull Died – when I was at the Beach –
The Wind threw the Sand –
And the Sand tumbled to its Place –
As the Waves retraced their steps –

I would Glide – But my Passion –
Replaced by You – And from There
We met the Water – But Moments Shared –
We were at the Beach –

But then It Came – You had Always Known
That It was there – brought with
Full Light of the sun – and then
I could see – the Seagull that Died –

That Seagull was beautiful – yet His time had come –
So Pure and White – I could only Accept –
As He Fell into the Water – The Distance – Short –
It might have been a Sign -

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem as a creative response for an Emily Dikinson poem. This piece is based upon my first date with a very special girl and the great memories we shared at my favorite place to be, the beach. Although the incident with the seagull didn't actually happen, I used that image to symbolize the tragic loss of all the great things we had.
