Walk Backwards
I am so unforgiving.
I cannot forgive myself.
If you hurt me,
I’ll get over it.
If I hurt myself,
I’m reminded again of
How weak I am.
How much stronger
I could be if I
Just let the past go.
I know I look back
Far too often.
But I’m so afraid.
Something is following me.
The more I look back,
The more it hurts,
The more it hurts,
The bigger it gets,
The bigger it gets, the slower I can move
And soon I won’t be moving at all.
But that’s okay.
Because I need to stop and remember
To forgive.
Until then, however,
I may just as well walk backwards
