An Ode to my Grandmother
You walked into my life and changed me forever.
Between us, a bond formed which no one could sever.
Our wits in sync, our jokes clever.
I never would have guessed we'd be that close, ever.
But just as quickly you left me here.
Through my tears, nothing is clear.
You were the one who wiped away my fears.
When He took you away, the center of my heart had a spear.
I cherish the days spent by your side.
Knowing our love is eternal, it can never hide.
I know you'd be sad if you knew how much I cried.
But I want you to know, they're tears of joy from knowing you, Nanny. And they're tears of pride.
