I'd make a monument
To the little boy without a family just looking for a home, I'd make a monument of you.
To the young man who carried my mom on his shoulders for hours until she was in her teens, who worked hard all his life and never gave up on anything, I'd make a monument of you.
To the old man who raced our car to the end of the driveway, the man who took us to fairs and farms, who let us race lawnmowers, who did puzzles, took his stairs two at a time, and who was friends with everyone he met; I'd make a monument of you.
To the man who's death was so unexpected and still haunts me every second of everyday. Even though you deserve so much more, Leroy, I'd make a monument of you.
