Veteran
A lone soldier on the horizon crept
Holding on to his life and the secrets he kept
Painful memories soared onto his head
The more sorrow to his mind he fed:
I've seen enough to leave me blind
Bled as much blood as I could find
I've seen death a few many times
Been blamed for far too many crimes
I've felt the pain of loss
Now I'm carrying my own cross.
Simple thoughts he remembered had occurred
As a symphony in the background he heard
The symphony of war the guns sang:
Click. Click. Bang. Bang.
He can still hear the marching of soldiers till this day
He sits, dreaming how he could have lived another way
