Veins of the Sky
The air exhales, and the winds pick up
Tossing the treetops, spirals of fallen leaves
Dance across the parched earth
And thunder snarls across the sky.
Tossing the treetops, spirals of fallen leaves
All taken up with the all-reaching wind.
And thunder snarls across the sky,
The gray-clouds-on-gray sky.
All taken up with the all-reaching wind
The debris of nature is lifted away.
The gray-clouds-on-gray sky
Is shattered by a jagged fork of lightning.
The debris of nature is lifted away
While the air is thick with the scent of rain
And is shattered by a jagged fork of lightning
Coloring the sky purple for a single millisecond--
While the air is thick with the scent of rain
The veins of the sky are revealed
Coloring the sky purple for a single millisecond
Visible only when they stand out.
The veins of the sky are revealed,
Pillars, holding it up like a dome,
Visible only when they stand out
In the fleeting and breathtaking lightning flash.
Pillars, holding it up like a dome
It releases the pearls of rain
In the fleeting and breathtaking lightning flash
Revealing everything; revealing the veins of the sky.
It releases the pearls of rain
That dance across the parched earth
Revealing everything; revealing the veins of the sky--
but only if you remember to look.
