Siren's Song
the siren's sing loudly
the boy covers his ears
he tries to block them out
but they won't disappear
so he joins their song
singing just as loud
until he feels so light
he can walk on clouds
he drifts for a while
the siren's song gone from his head
and then they start singing
and he drops like lead
he plummets to the ground
and now sings his own song
one that breaks hearts
that's too sad to sing along
and when he finally hits the ground
everyone thinks that he's fine
because all that has happened
has happened in his mind
he lies still in the hospital bed
and his breathing starts to slow
his heart begins to falter
and he's ready to go
so he closes his eyes
and counts to ten
and the little boy is gone
and the siren's song ends
