I Carry
My shoulders are heavy,
My breathing labored,
My feet cannot move
As they hold my body on this path called Life.
I carry the weight of the world,
My world at least,
I carry my parents’ expectations,
Good grades and a good career.
My face yearns to rest,
Eyes to close and heart to slow,
To lie on a comforting bed,
Fall asleep and never wake up.
I carry on my shoulders many worries,
My appearance, height and weight.
I carry on my shoulders many hopes,
Perhaps one day I can be very successful.
