Golden
You’re like the weaver
Spinning bows and ties
While tangling me fast and hard
In your golden web of lies
You’re like the golden spindle
A pretty, deadly trick
Laying there, waiting for
That one small bloody prick
You’re like the evil hag
Who said to take one bite
Of that golden apple, in hopes
To turn me deathly white
You’re like the Keeper of the Tower
But the golden hair you jealously guard
Can only take so much
Before giving back the scar
You’re like the Sea Witch
Offering golden deals from the deep
But you don’t know me and can’t help
Only I can find what I seek
You’re like the step mother
Who’s wrath on me would’ve last
If I hadn’t gone and found
My golden slipper of glass
You’re like the massive Hun
Who invaded the Great Wall
But my golden arrow will find you
And you’ll be the one to fall
Right now, you’re like the fire breathing dragon
That I killed without a knight
And now you, villain, can turn and hide
Out of mind and out of sight
I escaped the tower
I found my slipper of glass
I ignored your words and cut myself loose
From your web that held me fast
I will evade your spindle
And not take the deadly bite
Instead I’ll take you down with my arrow
And not go down without a fight
And afterwards I will not think of you, Golden
As you sit in bitter hate
Instead I’ll think a saying:
‘That good comes to those who wait.’
