Ode to Exaggeration
Ode to exaggeration
A low class hyperbole
The words you say
Or think
When your emotions are extreme
It’s an air pump to a balloon
That has long since been filled
It’s the blurred line
Between truth and lie
The gap between low and high
A million times more
Unnecessary
Than anything of use
Like an amplifier being amplified
Or saying “A big bellying howl”
When it’s really just a cry
Ode to exaggeration
That stems from the memory of our mind
A piece of gum
Softly chewed
Stretched over time
When the truth decides to fib
This is what he does
He exaggerates
Imaginates
Turning eight into nine
“Just a little more”
The truth may try to plead
Then eight crawls up to nine
Then nine
To thirty-three
Ode to exaggeration
Though you may not understand
Why something
So small
Must get so out of hand
