Someday
I remember that warm September day
When you told me your life was going away
You had tears in your eyes
And a smile on your face
You were stronger than the rest of us
You could laugh through the pain
And you told me what I had to do
When I said goodbye to you
You said I had to scream
Until I whispered
I had to cry
Until I laughed
I had to smile through the whole dang thing
And I couldn't wish for you back
I had to follow my dreams
And worry about me
Cause you had lived a full life
With me by your side
You said it was time for me
To be just me
And then December rolled along
And we know that something was wrong
But you just went and laughed
And said nothing at all
You didn't want us to fear
You didn't want us to fall
And you told me what I had to do
When I said goodbye to you
You said I had to scream
Until I whispered
I had to cry
Until I laughed
I had to smile through the whole dang thing
And I couldn't wish for you back
I had to follow my dreams
And worry about me
Cause you had lived a full life
With me by your side
You said it was time for me
To be just me
But nothing's the same
Now that you're gone
I'm sick of life's game
Cause without you it's all wrong
So I got to remind myself
Of what you said I had to do
You said I had to scream
Until I whispered
I had to cry
Until I laughed
I had to smile through the whole dang thing
And I couldn't wish for you back
You said I had to keep living
You said I had to go on
And that I couldn't stay down
For very long
You said I had to scream
Until I whispered
I had to cry
Until I laughed
I had to smile through the whole dang thing
And I couldn't wish for you back
I had to follow my dreams
And worry about me
Cause you had lived a full life
With me by your side
You said it was time for me
To be just me
I remember that warm September day
When you told me your life was going away
I know now why I wasn't afraid
Because I knew I would see you again
Someday

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead. <br /> - Louisa May Alcott.
