Requiem for a Dream
Can you honestly say to me,
That this life would retain reality,
If the one you claim to love is gone,
If it seems that she was just God’s pawn,
In the hospital room you sit and wait,
When the 12 Apostles decide her fate,
And as you hear the 'beep' that marks her death,
You savor those words,
Her dying breath,
"I love you",
She says and that is all,
Now she's just a lifeless doll,
Silver lining turn to tin,
Another dream tossed in the reject bin,
And what can you do,
Begin again?
She believed that you could win this game,
But now you put her hope to shame,
You've got no cards left in your hand,
Take the initiative,
That final stand,
But what is ying without its yang?
What is love without it's other?
Time itself has come to smother,
The bud that existed between two lives,
For one the world itself is lost,
The other has to pay the cost.
