Circle of Trust
Circle of Trust
Hues of crimson, honey, and amber as
the scent of hot dogs and pretzels fill the air.
Pumpkin carvers and cartoonists;
a leisurely walk through park.
Hand in hand with the wind guiding us,
we find a quaint little courtyard.
We sit down and map out our future.
The cobblestone cottage encircled by
white picket fence watching the children
play in the yard. An elderly couple married
for 50 years sits across from us.
I fantasize about that day.
He gets up and walks in front of me.
My heart begins to race feeling all
my dreams come true.
He grabs my hand as he gradually
gets down on one knee.
A silver band of trust forever
will stay on my finger.
I wait for him at the gates
staring at that ring.
