Admittance
And I hear your voice and wonder,
I see your face and think.
I read those words and remember
when the tears mixed with the ink.
I want your determination,
but most of all, a glance
a look my way that whispers
“we could have another chance.”
But I put my headphones in
and avert my eyes in shame.
I close that old red journal
and pretend you never came.
