Stubborn MAG
I’ll be here when the world goes down
on a blanket beside the fire,
in a loose, cotton dress and soft, brown curls,
waiting for the eye of the storm.
I’ll be here on a sunless day
sitting at an ivory piano,
singing songs from a childhood of yesterday’s memory;
Darkness doesn’t scare me.
I’ll be here as each star falls
down to its dusty death,
safe in the depths of a hidden highway,
desperate for a happy ending.
I’ll be here when the clouds explode,
too full of all our sins,
huddled under the willow where I will be buried,
as the dark rain self-destructs.
I’ll be here when death is upon us,
shoved into the palms of our hands;
But the will of my soul will keep me from leaving
until I fall in love.
Relentlessly,
until I fall in love.
