The Broken Window
Staring out a window
At what I hope to be
My dreams laid out before me
As far as the eye can see
Everything looks perfect
My future seems so bright
Reality hasn't set in yet
No darkness to swallow the light
But as the years go by
The glass begins to crack
And I begin to see
The things my future lacks
Today the window shattered
Desperately, I struggled through
To meet the would I'd wished for
To start real life, brand new
But nothing is as it seemed to be
All those dreams are gone
I try not to stem on the shards of broken dreams
As I forge ahead and move on
