I am being frank about myself in this book. I tell of my first mistake on page 850.<br /> - Henry Kissinger

Eyes gently closed, a tongue hanging down
Not a hint of a smile, not even a frown
No expression set on her beautiful face
Though somehow she seems peaceful in her place

No longer was there a glazed look in her eye
As her spirit went up to the heavens in the sky
Not a twitch went through her, waking her up
I stroked her soft fur, not disturbing the pup

A sob escaped my lips as I mourned for her
Lifting her ear and leaving a whisper
I told her how much I loved my sweetheart
And how we would never ever be apart

I remembered the times through my sorrow
How she made me happy, being my hero
There are so many memories, too many to count
But a few catch my mind as I look at her now

Some are painful, being nipped by her teeth
Others, cheery, a chair she slept underneath
I think of her like it's only yesterday
In her first January snow, she would play

But now it's December and she is gone
My heart is tearing, but stays our bond
Though this Christmas will be without her too
I'll remember when she came to my life, pure and new

Nothing will ever be the same
Her life was played as if a game
I wish I had the chance to see her live one more time
But that chance was gone when her eyes wouldn't shine

As I caress her face now, I watch her eyes
Hoping she's gone is only lies
But I know the truth, my hopes are wrong
Though for her life, I'll always long

I leave her with one last message from me
Saying how happy she's made my life be
I love her, my baby, she'll always know it
Her memory remains like the candle of life litEyes gently closed, a tongue hanging down
