Psalm of the Prodigal Son
A boy longing to leave home, Thinking he knows best
Living his life by book and poem
He leaves for the town
With buildings, bridges and lights
Look at his gloomy frown.
What the boy longed,
Was success, love, and truth
But soon he realized,
He did not belong.
Confused and depressed,
He knew not what to do
He lit up a smoke and drank whiskey all night
Thinking he was in a déjà vu.
Night after night he wasted his life away
Till he traveled back home
On a snowy December day.
Stumbling and moaning as he arrived at the house,
His father met him
And was as quiet as a mouse.
“Father! Forgive me for going against your will!”
A tear dropped from his eye, as he said
“Never come back!”
He walked away with a chill.
