été
Opaque nails shine in the blinding sun
On toes that bend the warm grass your bare feet tread on
Balmy breezes, seeming to be the hue of misty tangerine
Catch the hem of a billowy cotton sundress
Light and flowing around your sun-kissed thighs
Thin straps expose almost bare shoulders
Glistening in the rays, shadowed and ivory clean lines of body
Midday streaked hair sweeps across those bare shoulders
And along the comma curves of your pale backbones
The vivid candy colors of flowers grow wild
And look as if they’d be sweet and taste like raw sugar
If you only leaned down to take a bite
