"I am" Poem
I am from jump ropes scraping the pavement, yo-yo's, and barbies.
I've been dedicated to sports, board and hand games my whole life.
Playing outside and sweating, smelling like dirt with friends,
taking trips to the corner store, and snacking on my steps.
From B2K, Lil John,
and the Ying-Yang twins whistling through my ears. From singing and dancing all day long till my toes went numb. I come from Shockers,Frooties, and Tootsie pops. Sitting around watching Lilo and STitch, Rugrats, Arthur, and That's So Raven took its toll on me.
I am from crushing on Bow- wow as a kid. Where I'm from, books weren't a big thing for me or anyone for that matter.
I come from the saying if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all and still hear it to this day. I'm from dreaming of one day becoming a lawyer or a doctor. I am a rough neck city girl.
