The orange shouts of foreign places
The strawberry sings of home
And the orange is a butterfly fairy
While the strawberry is a gnome

But I choose the ripe red strawberry
With its subtle elegance
And eat it with some chocolate
To be content as I get thee hence

The author's comments:
We had to model a poem after a published poem we liked and I modeled mine after The White Rose by John Boyle O'Reilly. His comparison reminded me of strawberries which i love, so i wrote about them.
