The Door
I saw the door open
And it was my chance of escape
But like a group of wild animals,
We didn’t know which to take
Through the door lay freedom
And the chance to live my life
Yet also through the door
Lays anger, grief and strife
If we stay behind
And we don’t take the chance
We would stay protected,
But only at first glance
The curiosity of freedom
Would be the torture of some
And they would always wonder
“What could have become?”
So some will take the chance
And fly like a hungry bat
Some will stay behind
Like a timid, indoor cat
To some I will bid farewell
And others I will join
For the curiosity was too much
And I took my chance at flight
I’ll never tell you if it was good,
Or maybe full of spite
For you need to decide
What you think is right
So ask yourself this question,
Would you take that wild chance?
Or turn your back without a glance?
