Reminiscence
Memories,
Like snowflakes,
Fall to the glistening snow of my mind.
Some melt as I age
And slowly dribble
Into the deep trench of forget.
Others are frozen in time
And kept in a safe place,
Far from all the troubles
Of this cold, uncaring world.
They lay there forever,
Covering the nooks and crannies
Of subconscious thought
With a white, frosty blanket
Of sweet, sweet reminiscence.
When called upon,
They may cause a carefree chuckle,
A warm, comforting embrace,
Or a cascading waterfall of precious pearls,
Each plunging into the endless abyss
Of anguish and resent.
