That Light in the Dark
Tempted to reach for a dream
Floating around, it’s always out of reach
When I finally catch something I like
It’s destroyed with a sharp two-faced knife
Still I live with strength in my heart
It’s just like that light in the dark.
I hold my anger, I hold my tears
When it comes to life, I live with fear.
Sometimes I wish I had something to live for
My hopes and dreams crushed, not like before.
Still I live with strength in my heart
It’s just like that light in the dark.
My mom and I pray every night,
Asking God to keep my brother out of fright.
His smile gives us hope, his laughter gives us faith
Helping us to believe more in God today
Still I live with strength in my heart
It’s just like that light in the dark.
I’ve seen and heard things others haven’t even dreamt of
It’s a living nightmare which I will never wake up from
As time goes by, my faith and fear fight a battle
It’s going to take a lifetime for something to settle.
I wait for that moment with patience and determination
Because I live with strength in my heart
Just like that light in the dark.
