Ode to the Blue Butterfly
Amongst the bright blue sky,
You are invisible to the naked eye.
You fly so freely and escape many dangers,
But once you are on the ground
5 You are vulnerable to almost anything.
How is it that your rice-paper wings
Just don’t tear?
For they are so fragile and delicate
And travel many miles.
10 So majestic and blue
Against the clear blue sky.
Why seem so lost and lonely?
Somewhere in the mist of the ocean
There’s an island with a million of
15 You waiting in the great green palm trees.
Your trip back to the United States,
You and your friends make the sky look black
And many think that it may
Be World War III
20 For the swarm of big blue planes
That mean no harm.
Why do you have to die so soon?
Oh gentle and soft,
The frost has caught you
25 And now you lie there
Waiting to join the swarm once again.
But for now,
You sleep and dream of life.
