gravity
there is a voice, inside our hearts confined,
that beckons us to live our lives with love.
it wakes us from the sleep that shrouds our minds
and shows to us what we’ve been dreaming of.
to drop our fists and reach with arms outstretched,
to tell a friend their worth each day they live,
to gaze with hope at names in tree trunks etch’d,
to give away the things we have to give.
will I awake when light pours on my face?
or will my soul be crushed beneath the weight
pushed down upon our hearts by darkness’ grace?
the clouds must clear for light to burn through hate.
it is our dream we must be made to see;
the choice must be our own to be set free
