Sidewalk Kiddie Chalk
The plastic’s worn off my shoelaces
They’ve been dragging way too long
Like everything else in the world
It’s hard to tell the color
It all blends with the dirt and the grime
They pick it up from the ground
The lowest, lower than me
That comes surprising to most
But sometimes they change
When the kiddies spread out the chalk
Creating a falsity
That we all can only dream of achieving
They are the highest, higher than me
Those shades on my laces
Bring me down, hold me down
Weighted forever
Sometimes I wish those kiddies would stay home
