Watermusic
The notes swell slightly,
moving as one in their swaying song;
beginning first quietly,
ebbing and flowing with the tide,
then growing strong,
insistent, and full.
The tsunami overtakes us
with its power,—
but suddenly it fades from fortissimo,
and the layers of sound
fall away—
and we are wading
in a clear spring
of dulcet tones.
