In this Bed
Silent whispers in the dark,
Long dead secrets call and mock.
Only now as time is fading,
My quiet conscience is debating.
Memories roll across my mind,
Showing me all I had left behind.
My heart beats, slows, but never quickens.
My fear and guilt quickly thicken.
Darkness overwhelms all feeling,
I cannot fight with whom I’m dealing.
The grim reaper has come to collect,
Leaving me with nothing but regret.
The final heart beat in my chest,
In peace I will surely never rest.
