The Sea
I took my sailboat out to sea
to that place that I love to be
As I drift to this beautiful place
gulls dive and dip with a dancer’s grace
I usually float towards that distant land
when stars are thrown over me like scattered sand
I look grimly now upon the storm swept seas
praying that once the sun comes I will be free
Then there's the dull roar and gasp of the surf
as I open my eyes water drifting back from sandy turf
My lovely boat scattered and splintered around me
Which did not survive the storm unlike me
