Imagine This, Now Imagine That
Imagine the sky, dusted with stars
Now imagine only clouds, heavy with dirt
Look at the people who you see and who they are
What if some of their families couldn't afford a simple shirt?
Imagine a small child, happy and sweet
Now imagine the child living in a war zone
The child looks around as the gunshots beat
The child runs away as machine guns drone
Imagine the child running home
But the home is crumbling, and there's no food to eat
The child's father is now gone, in heaven he roams
The child and his brother now have to work to keep shoes on everyone's feet
Imagine an animal, perhaps a small cat
Now imagine a dark person who would hurt it
It's hard to imagine someone could do that
But don't put it past yourself, not one little bit
Finally, imagine yourself, a girl with this new view
You've graduated high school, you're floating on air.
Do you think you could be one of the chosen few?
Those who save the earth, the poor, the war-torn, and the abused, those few who really care.
