For Eternity
Watching the car roll its tires
On the frost bitten road.
Seeing the smoke from the
Exhaust pipe, rise above my head.
Seeing my mom wave to me from the
Rear-view mirror, gives me security
That she will be home soon.
Days go by, the clock spins on its axis,
Feels like eternity but only has been three days.
As I go stand outside to watch the car
Come down the street – weary eyed.
Looking different than when they first left
It was only my imagination.
