Hide and Seek
And if you come back I will sing to the sun,
I will dance for the end of the absence of you
drunk on the thoughts of what is to come.
The sky will be bright after day is undone
and the birds will still sing of this beauty too,
but only if you come back will they sing to the sun.
I will shout of our presence, continue to run
toward the idea of our bodies entangled in two,
drunk on the thoughts of what is to come.
Your lover’s speech is too old for your body so young
but your eyes scream truth in all of their green and blue,
so if you come back I will sing to the sun.
Leave the outside world behind those curtains, it will be shunned,
and we will lay content wondering “if not you, then who?”
Drunk on the thoughts of what is to come.
Out of the static I’ll shout that it all has begun
and it will shout back that this distance won’t do.
But if you come back I will sing to the sun
dunk on the thoughts of what is to come.
