Why Black
Black as a moonless night
Darker than the bottom of the ocean
Darker than hell it’s self
Powerful, strong, and fierce
Strong like the back of my people
Powerful like the mind of our women
Fierce like the anger of my brothers
And we have each other
Were just like brothers
From another mother
Fighting
Fighting for freedom
Justice and our rights
For what we deserve
For all those years of oppression
And still here now
We are being oppressed
Oppressed by the schools
The police and the government
We are only used for statistics
Only to judge
Judged only for our outer appearances
Not what we hold on the inside
So tell me why
Why us?
Why-Black?
