Infinity
The 28th day of October is my birthday,
In 1992, 8:58 a.m.
was the minute I came,
Infinity is the number of times
I’m thankful for that.
To my mother, infinity is how much
I thank you for not giving up on me.
2 was my age when I moved from one house to another,
And I was about 5 when I stopped talking to my father,
Infinity is the number of times
I wonder if he still cares.
To my father, infinity is how much I’ll think about the family
I could have had.
August 26, 2005 was the day
my grandmother went to heaven,
my grades dropped because the fight with grief I just couldn’t win,
Infinity is the number of times I miss her.
To my grandmother, infinity is how long you’ll be in my heart.
I have 12 half brothers and sisters,
I really do,
but 3 is how many I actually talk to,
Infinity is how long I will love them.
To my brothers and sisters, infinity is how long I will wonder about
those of you I haven’t met.
Being a sophomore in grade 10,
I wouldn’t be here without my friends,
Infinity is how long I’ll remember them.
To all my friends, infinity is how long I’ll love you.
Infinity.
