Heir Moon
Heir moon,
O orb of charms and graces.
Your magnetism
embraces the sea.
O adolescent moon,
with pits like pock-marks.
You are such a tease,
with your shapeshifting ways.
Give and take
you dole out the light.
Rations, portions
you spare just enough to frighten
us all. We quake
as the creatures emerge
from the darkness.
Your darkness.
The sun, your mistress
won't even be seen with you.
You're so cold, so frigid,
so difficult to please.
Never will you share the sky
again, that time is done.
You've got a fleet of stars under your
command.
But, what was the cost?
