rocky soil

Red clay filled with rocks, brick pieces, gravel, and cigarette butts
not an impressive site
but bear with it
rake the stones
plow the red clay
and watch as that red rocky soil turns brown, then black
as its fertile true self is slowly dredged up
give it time and a new yard will replace the one you were given
with grass as soft as carpet, and dirt you can be proud of
and the feeling that YOU made the difference
