A Note on Kitchen Cleanliness
A checkered floor,
Like a board,
All in black and white.
Where battles are waged,
Baking soufflés,
But nothing marks the floor.
There is fire on the counters,
Powder on the walls,
Flapjacks on the ceiling,
But nothing marks the floor.
There is sauce on the sidings,
Cheese melting on tables,
Egg shells fly through the air,
But nothing marks the floor.
There is nothing on the floor
Nor will there ever be;
Therein lies a roachy horde
Whose conquests never mark the floor.
