New Dawn

October 20, 2007
By Anonymous

Snowflakes fall gently
in the frozen, velvet sky,
drifting with a parachute,
landing with a sigh.

Only during darkness
can I let my sorrow show -
through broken streams of silent tears
streaking through the snow.

It seems, with this miasma,
I'm lost in an ocean wide,
an insignificant fish
with no one by my side.

The wound in my soul is valley deep
and what's left has been torn to shreds.
The dawn approaches and comforts me
in blues and greys and reds.

Perhaps, in time, no longer alone,
I can reach for what is real;
in this strange new land where friends are at hand
may I slowly begin to heal.
