Simply a Desk
A school desk, like most objects,
Is never as it seems.
What should be made for comfort,
Is comfortable by no means.
It will suffice for now-
Yes, its metal anatomy will do.
Otherwise I’d be fast asleep,
Not learning the wonders of “mu”…
Its slanted surface threatening,
My things escape to the floor.
I must angle my pencil correctly,
And sit straight so my back isn’t sore.
I suppose it’s rather convenient,
For teachers who fail to impress…
So students too tired to care for comfort-
They sleep, passing the ultimate test.
