My Shadow
I saw him one day, limping down the hallway as he made his way to our room. His clothes, a baggy mess on his slender figure, shake with every step that he takes.
I couldn’t see his face from where I was standing. He had long, straight dark hair that covered his face as if it were a mask. He was only a couple of inches away by the time I smelled the gasoline and engine oil on him. He stopped and slowly lifted his head to level my eyes with his. I finally saw his face. He was very much like with only one small feature that set us apart. His eyes were an ice cold blue. His expression was plain as his eyes locked with mine. I will never forget the words he spoke that day. He held out his hand and asked me, “What took you so long to come back for me?”
