This Town
The window lays broken,
a victim of pain.
Now the neighbors have awoken;
guilt is all to gain.
As shattered glass glimmers
an asking man stares down.
The child's hoarse voice stammers
"I just can't take this town."
Cans sit on the side walks
after bitter night fall.
The child stalks
the writing on the wall.
Its head and men are screaming
while the child is caught,
by a flashlight beaming
and a bitter man's gunshot.
