Man Made Glow
It alternates between red and blue
And if I am to believe astronomers true
Then I am surely looking into the past
Onto a light long gone past
Upon this darkest world of men
If not cast now, then cast when?
A supernova is what I see
An exploding sun transfixes me
Yet I am thankful for the star so far
That still safe our atmospheres are
But distractions of Earth this night
Steal all attention from the ancient light
For now, man made glow of street and car
Will drown out knowledge of the dying star.
