Homelessness MAG

By Anonymous

   My home can be

everywhere

or nowhere.

My daily meals

consist

of anything or

nothing.

My knick-knacks

and baubles

are the clothes

I

wear.

My money

is

only what

others

give me.

I am a being.

I am human.

I am homeless.

If only people

could see

where I stand.

and

help me

through

this all.

Will this loneliness

ever end?

Will I begin

a

new life?

Does

anyone

care?

Because

I

am here.

I

am

real.

I

cannot

be ignored.

I am a person.

I am alive.

And...

I am homeless. n

I know what it is like to be homeless-been there, done that-. It's not all blacks and grays. It depends on how you look at it. You are 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you react to it. You can make it into colors and lights with just a shift of attitude.

Ça fait tellement du bien d’aimer les gens qu’on aime, que ça finit par faire mal. Je sais pas comment on survit a ça. Non franchement, je sais pas. LOL (laughing out loud) ®, Lola.

Hmm... nice idea and structure although you could try adding some devices to make it really original.

Basically . . . amazing! And so true, I think sometimes people forget that those "below" them are alive. That they are human.

I like the repetition, especially of the I am homeless. It had a good ending and I liked the short lines, but they may have been a little too short in some places. The theme is good and it's pretty well written. I think it just needs some tweeking here and there, but that's just me. Well done.

I really enjoyed this poem. It was really powerful, but i felt annoyed by the very short lines, and sometimes only one or two words. Im no expert but my opinion is that you should only have that every now and then.

Really sad and powerful.  Good work, except a little too much emphasis on the I's.  It sort of reminds me of an article I wrote called "The Fight Scene".  Would you like to check it out?

Very very true, thank you for pointing this out.  May I make a suggestion?

I have learned not to refer to someone as homeless.  I have learned to say someone who is homeless--put the person before the homelesness
