A Million Fire Flies
you call me
late one evening
and tell me to come
I ask you where you are
you say
don’t worry, just look down
I look out my window
and down on the porch
is my perfect man
a dozen roses by your side
and your phone
in the other hand
I run down the stairs
and meet you at the door
your warm, perfect embrace
you hand me the roses
and hang up the phone
and put my hands on your face
you say, follow me
then were off at a jog
to somewhere I don't know
you take me to the field
across from the school
to a blanket under the moon
you tell me you love me
you tell me you care
and you turn your face towards me
you lips meet mine
in perfect time
there's a kiss, special as can be
we stare at the moon
for a while longer
then you say you have a surprise
I look at you and
see the lights
of a million fire flies
