This Is Not Your Poem MAG
This sheet of paper has never smelled coffee
or glanced casually at the shade-wearing man at the microphone
from its place at my table.
It has never been read aloud in a carbon-copy
discussion group kingdom
and praised like weak tea by the
folder-clutching jellyfish.
I have never shown this paper to a friend
and ticked away the seconds with dog-waiting-for-a-treat-eagerness
or been reward with,
"That's neat."
