You make assumptions whereas I wonder.
I wonder if you were surprised
By how easily I said goodbye.
I wonder if you stayed awake
Because you could hear our strings break
As I cut them away in my head
While I lay, undefeated, in bed
And the sound traveled far from my room.
I wonder if you just assumed
That I would be missing it all
But I wonder if you can recall
How easily truth seemed to die
Like your teeth were made up of lies
And how you didn’t feel remorse
After the falsities ran their course
Did you know that I grew out my hair
And tamed it with loving care
So I’d look like a girl, for you?
Well here is something to chew
(A fact, so refreshing and new)
As I watched the heavy locks fall
I didn’t miss them at all
My heart's content, though my mind
holds peace that I've yet to find
I still wonder if you wanted help
As you were making a fool of yourself
