Hopes and Dreams
Beneath Your stars and celestial things
I boxed up all my hopes and dreams
The box, I threw into the sea
Every day, I pray it's returned to me.
For now I sit, a tired soul
Remembering things from long ago
I do not dare to leave this shore
Nor can I wait forevermore...
No, here I'll wait just one more day
And I will plead and cry and pray
I pray that box will be carried to ground
Where, by a kindred soul, it can be found
And opened gently, with great care
For it holds such lovely dreams to share
But all my hopes and dreams apart,
I pray he's gentle with my heart.
